Description

The Compsognathus was a small thinish chicken-like dinosaur.
It was fairly intelligent and hunted in large packs.
This dinosaur probably would have been too small for any large predators to be bothered with.

Diet

The Compsognathus ate small, agile lizards. We know this because in the bellies of both fossils, skeletons were found of these lizards.

The Compsognathus was famous as the smallest dinosaur ever for decades, however there are now dinosaurs ever smaller. The compsognathus is around the 1m mark.

It had a large collection of tall spines running down its back.
These may have been joined by a membrane of skin.

Dimetrodon

Description

Dimetrodon was a quadrupedal, sail-backed synapsid. The size of teeth differs greatly along the length of the jaws, lending Dimetrodon its name, which means "two shapes of tooth" in reference to sets of small and large teeth.

Diet

Dimetrodon was a cannibal, meaning it ate its own young. We know this because in the bellies of fossils, skeletons were found of these animals. they also ate other terestrial animals from that time

Size

Most Dimetrodon species ranged in length from 1.7 to 4.6 metres (5.6 to 15.1 ft) and are estimated to have weighed between 28 and 250 kilograms.

Smilodon

Description

Smilodon was a killing machine with particularly well-developed forelimbs and exceptionally long upper canines. Its jaw had a bigger gape than that of modern cats and its upper canines were slender and fragile, being adapted for precision killing.

Velociraptor

Description

Velociraptor was a mid-sized dromaeosaurid. The skull was uniquely up-curved, concave on the upper surface and convex on the lower. The jaws were lined with 26–28 widely spaced teeth on each side, each more strongly serrated on the back edge than the front. It possed a unique sickle-like claw on the third didgit of each foot.

Giganotosaurus

Description

The skull of Giganotosaurus is large. The skull is slender and elongated in build, with rugose areas on the edges of the snout top and above the eye. The shoulder blade was very short and thick, with sudden kinks in its shaft.

Diet

Giganotosaurus was a carnivore. Titanosaur fossils belonging to Andesaurus and Limaysaurus have been recovered near the remains of Giganotosaurus, leading to speculation that this carnivore may have preyed on the giant herbivores.

Size

The total length Giganotosaurus has been estimated between 12.2 and 12.5 m, the largest specimen is 13.2 m , and the weight between 6500kg and 13800kg.
